Hill Country Cowl

The Hill Country Cowl was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Hill Country Weavers, a local yarn shop in Austin, TX. The colorwork motif represents the journey, obstacles and triumphs this well - known and renewed Local Yarn Store has faced over the years. May many more successful years follow!

You'll need

Needles:

• US size 7 (4.5mm) in 24in. / 60cm circular needles
• US size 9 (5.5mm)  in 24in. / 60cm circular needles
• US size 10 (6 mm)  in 24in. / 60cm circular needles

Yarn:

• 2 colours of 231 yards / 253m per 100g
• 220 yds / 200m of each colour

• Stitch markers
• Darning needle

• Circumference: 24 in. / 61 cm
• Front Length: 21 in. / 53.5 cm
• Back Length: 6 in./ 15cm

Construction

The construction of this cowl consists of two main sections. The first section is a top-down triangular shawl featuring lateral braid stripes, worked until the right number of stitches is reached, then joined in the round for the second section where the colorwork motif is knit. The cowl will still be increasing in stitch count for this second section but only at the triangular tip at the front.
